The first consortium was initiated in 2009 by a MODSIM – Mathematical Computation research project, which was an initiative of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Ministry of Traffic, Innovation and Technology (BM:VIT).

The project is partly funded by the government of Upper Austria in the “Innovatives Oberösterreich 2010plus” initiative.

From 2009-2001 we have been working on the development of a simulation model of blood flow through intracranial vessels and aneurysms. Our goal is to calculate velocity, pressure and stresses of blood lumen and vessel wall in order to provide quantitative measures to support clinical diagnostics and to estimate rupture risks of intracranial aneurysms.
